Every so often, I hear someone talk about a book or film that's "life changing." That has always felt to me like a grandiose statement -- really, in how many aspects of your life did you make drastic changes after reading/watching this? But with this book, I think I understand the concept a bit better -- this has been life changing for me, but in a smaller, day-to-day way. Wow...this was a great book! I will admit, not everyone will enjoy it as much as I did; it's filled with the science, history, economics, and politics behind the food we eat, but Pollan tells it as a story that kept me interested the whole time. This book really made me think about where my money is actually going when I'm bargan shopping at the grocery store, and I'm even more appreciative now of the fact that I can walk to a farmer's market every week. ...more

Obviously, I'm having a hard time getting through this. I keep reading it in off moments--parts are interesting--but the sheer weight of all the information gets oppressive after a while. Fiction or facts? I'll take fiction, please--pictures and conversations a bonus. ...more
