This book is a charming story about a girl growing up in "genteel poverty" in a ramshackle castle in England. Absolutely charming novel that made me remember feelings and emotions of a much younger woman.
Entertaining at the beginning and middle, but the last couple chapters were a disappointment.
I'm glad I finally read this one.

I just LOVED this novel! Cassandra Mortmain dreams of being a writer and begins by recording things about her family, who are just getting by in an old English castle. Romance ensues and things get complicated. Highly recommended. Note: This author also wrote 101 Dalmations.
This book was so good I wish it were 1000 pages long!
