What Members Thought

The good parts of this were really good, but the bad parts were really bad. On the plus side, David Smith as a character personifying the dream to be a creative entity, and to pursue that passion to the ends of the earth was interesting, complex, and sympathetic. And the art work in the book was really beautifully done - evocative and challenging, but also comforting when it needed to be too. The NYC setting was lovingly and critically explored.

Fantastic art and layout, as expected from the guy who wrote Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art. Interesting twist on the Faust plot. I'm not sure if I should like David (because he reads as man-child with very little growth) and whether that's necessary to really like this.
