This is definitely not my normal type of book, but the theme of BookRiot's quarterly package this time around was giving some different genres a try (specifically sci-fi, romance and YA) so I'm going to do just that. Romances and westerns are two genres that I have almost no interest in, so I expect this one to be an especially tough sell.
*****Reading this one as part of BookRiot's "Read Harder" challenge. I'm pretty sure this will be a slog for me.

Don't take my low rating as a forewarning to everyone. If you love romance and haven't checked out this author yet, I definitely recommend. But this book is literally the exact opposite of being in wheelhouse and the beginning was REAL rough for me with the main guy being a maaaaaaajor jerkface for more than half the book. But I really liked Penelope as a character and the ending almost made me want to read the next book in the series. ALMOST.

This was my first Sarah MacLean, and it was alright. I enjoyed reading it. I found Penelope to be rather frustrating at the beginning, and was very happy when she started to actually speak her mind. Regency romances aren't my favorite, but I would read another one by MacLean.
