The story was a little too meandering for my tastes and I don't really get why so many people were obsessed with cracking this weird code. But I do like the idea of a 24-Hour Book Store and the characters were interesting. The audio narration is solid, lightly voiced to nice effect. ...more

I dug this! It was on the Alex list of adult books with teen appeal and I could definitely see nerdy teens enjoying this. But also nerdy adults. It reminded me a bit of The Magicians and also The Da Vinci Code. (But I don't mean for the DaVinci Code comparison to be a dig, okay???) Fast paced and fun, and deeply rooted in a love of both books and technology. All the references to Google might seem outdated in a few years, who knows? So read it now.

The audiobook was fine, and I thought it was cut

Light, sweet, and fast paced puzzle novel. Just the kind of palate cleansing pleaser I needed.

Quite a likeable and fast read with lots of fun plot elements--a secret society, an old bookstore, very talented people, modern technology and old knowledge.

I enjoyed the ride immensely but was ultimately let down too gently by the ending.

OMG SECRET SOCIETY OF SECRET LIBRARIES.

Delightfully written, if ultimately a bit slight. Read it if what I typed in caps makes your heart skip a beat.

Combines writing, typeface and computers into a wonderful read about mortality.

What did you think? I think it's a book very "of its time" - San Francisco and the Valley in 2010, and the people you find there across the spectrum from tech to luddite, all focused on the importance of information and communication. Dunno how well it will age, but it gets across the flavor of the moment. ...more

This book was exactly what I wanted it to be: an engaging page-turner that involves the intersection between my two favorite worlds: books and the Internet. High literature it was not, but I loved it for what it was: fun.

This is an odd little book, but I really enjoyed it. Great for literary and technological geeks alike!
