This was a REALLY long book, and I am really glad that I am finally done with it. It wasn't a bad book, but no book needs to be THIS long. The last 20% of the book was fantastic, a five star read. The rest of the book dragged.

This book is a long series of well thought-out, well-written, and mildly interesting vignettes involving complex and distinctive characters that I don't particularly give a crap about (with the exception of Childermass - I did like him - or maybe I just liked the accent the

A very well written book, which is good b/c it's incredibly long. I enjoyed the story, but it does take a while (100+) pages to get into it, so you have to commit for the long haul. However, the last 200+ pages more than made up for the slow start, for me. ...more

This book is a behemoth, people. Clocking in at over 1,000 pages, a thickness well over shoulder-bag-acceptable measurements, and a weight I estimate to be roughly equal to that of my 20-month-old daughter (who is admittedly only in the 25th percentile of her age group for weight), you have got to really be into this one to lug it around and haul it out on a commuter train. After more than a month of reading I had succumbed to some kind of literary Stockholm Syndrome and couldn't ever remember r ...more

OMG, i finally finished this book. I enjoyed it, but it took 800 pages to build up to the suspense of the last 200. I enjoyed it, the writing style was interesting and unusual and the author did a lovely job of creating setting and emotion of the places where people were. i like magical stuff.

Yikes! I finally finished the longest book ever. 26 audio discs. And it finally got interesting around disc 24. Probably one of the most rambling unconnected collection of thoughts I've read in a long time. Maybe there was a good story in there but it needed about 1000 pages of editing! ...more
