This book was just the best. Immersive and magical. I loved the audio, but there were several times I wanted to be able to go back and check on a date or other detail, and it would have been much easier to do that with a physical book. I think maybe I'll read this again next summer, because it's the perfect summer book.

It had a similar tone to Shadow of the Wind, I felt, with a haunting and magical setting as the backdrop for far more universal experiences that were played out in the foreground.

It's not that the book wasn't good, more that it didn't match my tastes. I can see how others could love it. I should have DNF'ed it once I recognized it wasn't my style.
