So, I read this first before the movie came out, then reread it this fall because my book club is reading it (after having seen the movie). I am pleased to say that it holds up to reread and I enjoyed reading it after seeing the movie and comparing the little changes. This is a fun, dishy story with plenty (too many?) of details about fashion, food, and travel that the superrich can afford.

Such an interesting intro to a world I had never considered. Leaves me with so many good questions.
This was a really fun and funny read! I read it all in one sitting (on a long trip but still). The romance/wealth porn genre is not one that I'm generally drawn to (no judgment, I know there are a lot of readers who like that flavor of escapism, and I just generally prefer a different flavor), but this was really funny and with, at its core, very grounded and likeable characters. The cultural specificity of life as a 1%er in Singapore made this more interesting to me than something set in the US

I avoided this book for awhile, because it’s not the kind of story I gravitate towards and I usually get bitter quickly about rich people problems. It was more about integrity and being real despite your surroundings, which was more relatable to me.
Ready to see the movie now. I think I will enjoy this whole series.
It's fluff, it's "guilty-pleasure" reading, there's tons of designer name-droppings, the vast majority I've never heard of...but man, this book was so much fun! I can't wait to read the next one (and see the movie this summer!)

This was the opulent and fun read I had wanted/expected. I love footnotes so the constant explanations didn't bother me, but your YMMV. I docked it a star because I did get a little tired of SO MUCH OVER THE TOP events - but overall a quick read that was perfect for a flight.
