I greatly enjoyed this book. I loved the way it featured several different writing styles: the novel within a novel, the newspaper/magazine articles, and Iris' narrative. The book included several hints of what was really going on without ever truly coming out and directly saying it until the end. I hated having to put it down. Iris is the narrator of this story; she is an old woman when we meet her, barely able to hold herself together. We know from the beginning that there is a lot of tragedy in this book. We know about three deaths in the first 50 pages or so: Iris's sister Laura, her husband Richard, and her daughter Aimée. (What an unfortunate name, by the way!)
