I enjoyed this more than I would have thought - it starts off slow, and I had a hard time understanding all the devices and the caste system at first. I still struggled with a lot of the world building and keeping the characters straight at the end, but the protagonist is strong enough that he is able to carry the story. This book got off to a slow start and I almost abandoned it. The main character (and narrator) is Darrow, a Red (a member of the lowest caste in this future set tale) who works underground on the planet Mars drilling and working to make the planet livable for future generations. Oh, book. Our relationship status would be "it's complicated."
I didn't really like you at first--your language is weird, and your story was honestly kind of boring for a good long while. When I find myself skipping ahead not out of anticipation but out of boredom, that's never a good sign.
