Have you ever read a dream? I recall my second grade teacher, Ms Childress, reading Black Beauty to our class. It's been a long time since second grade and I could not really recall the story...but as I read it yesterday, it was like reading a dream. It all came back, out of some long lost wrinkle in my brain. I'm so glad to have it back.
Black Beauty is as fresh now as when it was first published in 1877. It's about treating people and animals well, as well as living right.

Too sad. I know it's a classic, but I don't like stories where the main character suffers up til the very end, and then is rescued. there has to be SOME joy in the story throughout the book for me to enjoy it. How can people treat innocent animals like this? so sad. poor beauty.

I'm pretty sure I read this when I was younger. But reading it with Alice was a better experience, for sure. She says she loved it too
