I totally agree with Emily. I loved, loved, loved the first half of the book, the third quarter got weirdly introspective and emo, and then picked up again at the end. I'll definitely read the next book in the series, though.

Frustrating book IMHO. The relationship between Rob/Adam and Cassie made me want to scream! Cassie - don't do it! Grrr! Never finding out what happened to Jamie and Peter was disappointing. But real life is probably like that. You don't always get to tie up all the loose ends, and men will be men. (Still Rob's man cave is the deepest, darkest one ever!) Even though I wanted Cassie and Rob to live happily ever after, and for the mystery of Jamie and Peter to be resolved....I got something more re

This was far more emotionally taxing than the usual detective novel/thriller! Very well-written and complex (I actually probably read it too quickly in many ways as I think there are layers/nuances of foreshadowing and structure that I glossed over). While I anticipated certain aspects of the ending/resolution, Tana French boldly leaves plot elements unsolved in a way you don't typically see in this genre.
Definitely recommend this for lovers of detective/crime/thrilled fiction. Now, on to Book ...more

I enjoyed this novel; I wasn't sure what to expect because I don't read a lot of mysteries, but I liked the characters a lot. The mystery itself wasn't that interesting, but the back story for the main detective was fascinating, and that made the whole novel more enjoyable.
