My coworkers have all been reading and raving about Watchmen lately. This graphic novel tells the story of several generations of masked heroes. I have read several graphic novels in the past but never a “super hero” one. I am not much of a comic book fan either, so Watchmen was new territory for me in many ways.

I also read Watchmen because one of my book clubs selected Junot Diaz’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I’ve been told that the lead character in that book is a fan of Watchmen. I ...more

oh wow. Where do I start?

I've never read a comic book (sorry, graphic novel!) unless you count the Archie Comics I read as a kid.

I was skeptical to say the least.

Wow, what a piece of work! Layered, thought-provoking, amazing plot.

Wow. Now I know what all the hype is about. Minus one star because it took me forever to get into it. Once it all came together, and I was able to pick up on its many messages, it was a quick read. I finished just in time to hate the movie!
