I really really enjoyed this one. I am
actually surprised that I hadn't read this one before now. I had read all the other Jane Austen books, and listened to this one in the car. I found myself really looking forward to it. The story was very engaging and the scenario and the way the characters developed over time was more complex than her other books. I found this one to be distinct from the others but still just as enjoyable and in the same style. I so enjoyed listening to the audiobook. I foun ...more

My least favorite Austen so far. Maybe I am just getting burnt out as it is my 4th Austen big in a row. I am purposely saving Pride and Prejudice for last.
I felt there was too much stuff going on and not enough about the main 'love' story that comes together in the last 20 or so pages. There were so many characters that they all sort of blended together.

This wasn't as charming as P&P, but it was terrific. After years of resenting having to buy all of those Austen knock-offs for the library, I have to admit now that the originals are worth every bit of the attention they get.

I read this while studying for the GREs. It was good but (don't kill me, die-hard Austen fans) some of the characters were so static and exaggerated, I sometimes felt like I was reading Dickens. With Mary, for example, it seemed like everything she said was just copied and pasted each time she appeared. But it was still a good story, with all the usual Austen wit and observation.

A British spinster is reacquainted with an old flame in this classic comedy of manners. I keep reading Austen but I still haven't decided whether I really like her.

I wish my high school English teachers had explained how very funny Jane Austen's works are.
