I read the first read A Game of Thrones before starting the HBO series. I noticed how much HBO left out and how they changed some minor plot lines. Despite all that, I became addicted to the show. Remembering how deep and rich the first book was, I decided to continue reading the books. It didn't disappoint in the depth. However, the story itself was a let down. I understand that there is a lot of set-up going on, so I'm rating it on that level.

I"m really liking this series, and I can't wait to read the next one. I'm looking forward to the next season of game of thrones.

I read this too soon after finishing Game of Thrones. I still love these characters and I'm still into the arc of the story but I just lost this about half way through, and I really had to fight to stay in it. Once we hit the endless battle in the last third, my eyes just glazed over until it was done.
I will continue with these, but I need a break. ...more

It took me quite awhile to read this book. It starts strong, drags throughout, but ends with a punch.

Three stars because this took me like 2.5 months, but it felt like twice that.

Not as good as the first book but still decent especially toward the end. Can't wait for the third book!
