Check out my video review of Divergent and Insurgent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_lvHp...
I liked it, possibly even more than the first book because it explains a lot more about the world and obviously fleshes out characters more. I'm not like omgziluvit but I really enjoy this series and am excited to see how it all ends up. ...more

Insurgent is the second part of the Divergent Trilogy. Beatrice “Triss” Prior has thwarted the plans of the Erudite and the “traitor” Dauntless and now has to deal with the aftermath of those events. Traumatized and hopeless, she with a small remnant of Dauntless, Abnegation, and Faction-less must escape the Erudite and discover the secret that Abnegation has been hiding.

So this was an excellent follow-up to the first book (Divergent). I'm just gonna go ahead and say right now that I like these two books better than The Hunger Games series. They aren't quite as sadistic.

Book 2 didn't show much improvement. Tris is in quite a dither about killing Will (in book 1, so not a spoiler) and this guilt infects the entire book. First, book 1 left so little impression on me that, despite the fact I only read it a few months ago, I have NO idea who Will is, or why she cares so much. Second, from what little background there is, it appears she had to kill Will or die herself....so, why the moaning and navel gazing? STFU, Tris. You are a whiner. This is WAR.

definitely suffered from the sophomore slump. maybe the first book had as many plot holes, disguised by the interesting world-building? in any case, i get really tired of books in which the protagonists constantly whine about interpersonal problems that could be solved by having a 2-minute conversation. that said, i am definitely interested to see how this all wraps up in book three.

oh man, i really liked the first one, this one i struggled with, i stopped halfway through and only went back because i had nothing else to read... it ended strong but i have a hard time liking tris... she's all the annoying things a female lead could be...
