Good, but I read it immediately after Divergent and it didn't quite live up. Still excited for the third one in the series, but I missed the characters in this one - there just wasn't as much development or interaction between them as in the first book. (Had the same issue with Hunger Games #2.) ...more

I think I actually liked this slightly better than the first book of the trilogy. Our main character, Tris, seems a little more believable to me in this book. I wish she could learn to communicate a little more openly with those who are important to her, but she's not in Candor and she is, after all, 16. The action was captivating, if horrifying, and the thought of how best to usurp a hostile takeover and remake society was certainly intriguing. Okay I liked this one enough to give it give stars (see my DIVERGENT review for more on that). While I had a good feeling where this was going, it felt fresh and engaging when I actually read it. And this book did what do few sequels do: got better than the first book.

Lots of good growth in this book. Some of the tragedies started to feel a bit "normal" but it's done carefully add is Tris is becoming all too familiar with tragedy. Love Tobias's wisdom. Good a bit annoyed with Tris's recklessnes

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I felt like the book maintained the momentum of Divergent, actually moving the story forward instead of just holding a place in a trilogy. I'm excited to read Allegiant. ...more
