I kind of don't know what to make of this book and I wasn't sure how to rate it. I thought about 3 stars, but settled on 2 because it took me nearly all summer to get through and because I didn't feel as though, upon finally finishing it, I "liked it". I didn't feel that it was particularly interesting, nor was it, for me, compelling. It was odd, strangely paced, and really kind of cold.

Loved this, although it is truly slow reading. I wasn't ready for all the personas McCullers adapts in the book, but I ended up really falling in love with many of the characters. It's incredible that she wrote it when she was only 23 - the mind is a massive hunter is more like it.
