My criticism of this book is that I didn't believe it. I didn't believe in the world, or the particular turn of events, or the storytelling based on the photos. The photos, the author's device the book, feel forced and unnatural.

Odd... but fun premise. Started to get a little wonky as it went on but I'll probably read the next one.

I felt like the story line was pretty much the same as a lot of other YA fiction - teenage boy finds out he's not like all the others and then he has to band together with others like to save the world! But the writing wasn't so compelling. I did think the idea of the story from old photos was quite novel (no pun intended) and I liked that part enough to give it three stars.

Meh. The only thing that holds this book together are the pictures. It's fun to see what the author did with the old photographs, but the story was terrible. And there was absolutely no resolution. Something like this should be a self-contained, one-off novelty.
