Such a wonderful story, for any age. Loved it. You should read it. Yes, you.

It's not often that my twelve-year-old insists that I read one of his books. It's far more common that he just reads a book over and over and eventually I become curious and borrow it for a bit. Yet for Wonder he insisted. Kept bringing it to me, multiple times. Would pick it up when it was near me and search it for a bookmark to see if I'd started yet.
Of course I gave in.

Read this for a teaching methods class. I think our professor wanted to drive home that we're not just teaching conjugations and vocabulary, we're implicitly and explicitly teaching young people how to be. And maybe she wanted to give us a break from all of the research articles and methods textbooks.
I really liked the way the narratives overlapped just enough that we could see different points of view of a few key events, but left enough gaps for us to fill in. It's a much more interesting book ...more

I did not actually read, I listened to the audiobook with my 6 year old son. I LOVED it, the reading was brilliant, we both loved it so much and probably will listen to it again. A beautiful book to listen to with a sensitive kid, and have discussions about what kind of person you want to be in this world.

Richly-layered characters, a story that will crack the toughest of exteriors, and laughs and tears (holy balls, the tears -- Minne was giving me extra kitty cuddles and antics because of the excessive heaving, choking sobs). For anyone who has ever survived the fifth grade!
