What Members Thought

Brain-eating zombies and butt-kicking heroines are seamlessly integrated into the classic romance by Jane Austen. The undead have been roaming Britan for over 50 years, and Elizabeth Bennett and her 4 sisters have trained with a Shaolin master in the arts of zombie-killing. Elizabeth's skills attract the attention of proud Mr. Darcy, who is also adept at killing the monsters, but will his aunt - another reknowned zombie killer - keep them apart?

A silly book, really, but a surprisingly enjoyable read. Of course, most of the really good parts are Jane Austen, but Seth Whatshisname is a marketing genius for coming up with this. Historical inaccuracy of the costumes in the illustrations drove me nuts (I could get past the historical inaccuracy of the zombies, but Eliza Bennet never wore a vest).

This was everything I wanted. I laughed the whole way through! From the cover to the romance to the undead that attack at all times. This is the Elizabeth I wanted to know the one who could fight off Zombies. Adult.

I just couldn't get into this one, but the author gets points for originality!

I wanted to like this book. Who doesn't like zombies? But sadly, this book didn't come together. It was slow and didn't flow very well. It felt like the author just added some passages about zombies but wasn't concerned with it making sense. The best part of the whole book were the illustrations.

I enjoyed this. I'm a huge fan of Jane Austen's work, and found it very amusing to see someone take it and have so much fun with it. The basic plot elements are all there, as are the zombies. There are some very interesting new pieces of background for the characters, and some fight scenes as you might imagine. If you're a fan of the original, I'd recommend checking this out. It's a great light read.

I enjoyed this very much. I think it's more for the Jane Austen fans than the zombie fans. A zombie fan would probably still get a kick out of it, but wouldn't appreciate that the book is 75% Pride and Prejudice and only 25% zombies.
