Listened to this on audiobook. I treated this as more like a collection of essays than actual self-help, which I think curved my opinion of this more positively. And I don't necessarily agree with everything she gives as "advice" but damn. This book is so well written and the stories are heartbreaking and I it made me want to be more compassionate toward people because we all have our weird things that we have to work through and need that bit of sugar.

I liked Cheryl Strayed after reading Wild. I ADORE Cheryl Strayed after reading this book. As Steve Almond says in his great introduction she is "both irreverent and brutally honest...a woman with a troubled past and a slightly reckless tongue."
