I want everyone I know who has gone through a hard time or is going through a hard time or may go through a hard time in the future to read this book. I had never read Rumpus, or Cheryl Strayed, or Dear Sugar, but the book is just gut wrenching. In a good way. And full of love.

Tiny Beautiful Things will make you laugh, cry, cringe and clap. It may also make you drop to your knees in gratitude for your life and family. This series of letters to advice columnist Sugar, along with her responses, is a book worth reading.
Some letters are funny, others heartbreaking. Nearly all of them made me see my own life with fresh eyes and brought some much needed perspective on days when I am tired and ready for summer to just get here already.

Not your typical self-help book, from not your typical advice columnist. Much of what she espouses comes straight from Marcus Aurelius, but that's OK --- his lessons on willpower and discipline and gratitude and acceptance bear lots (and lots and lots) of repeating.

I loved this book, even with the pet names (which as a rule, I find abhorrent in writing). The advice was strong and eloquent and it had the heft of someone who has lived a lot of life. I'm really grateful I read this.

What a gift to humanity Cheryl Strayed is. I read this one years ago, but a podcast I love kept recommending the audio version, so I gave it a listen. I'm so glad I used a libro.fm credit instead of borrowing it from the library, because I know I will want to listen to it again in the future.
It's a book filled with letters and responses from her advice column. I feel like I am cheapening it somehow, referring to it as a book of "advice," which makes it sound like Dear Abby. It's so much more th ...more

I cried a couple of times. The writing had some repetition that felt a little awkward to me, but given that it's a compilation, it makes sense.

I had never heard of Dear Sugar or Cheryl Strayed before I read Wild, my favorite book so far this year, so I picked this up from the library because I had loved Wild so much. It's a very quick read. And while I normally am annoyed by people who give advice by telling you all about themselves, she tells her stories beautifully and the advice is always thoughtful and excellent. Who knew a book of advice columns could be so good?

Goosebumps. I just finished this book, and I have goosebumps on my legs. That's probably all I need to, or am able to, say about it right now.
