What Members Thought

A very few thoughts on this very long, but worthwhile, read:
1. Chapter 1 - genius.
2. Title? awesome
3. Well written characters, easily distinguishable which is not easy in such a long book.
4. I tore through the book and generally couldn't wait to see what happened next.
5. Will I move on with the series? Not sure. I'll need some time away to decide. ...more

Wool a) was originally self-published as a series of ebooks and b) is yet another dystopia story. It's also really good. It's strong setting and solid science help it stand out from the dystopia crowd, and I think its the writing quality (compelling characters, suspenseful plot) that attracted enough of a readership to interest publishers and Hollywood.

It's probably closer to a 3.5; solid science fiction with good characters, but nothing that great for my taste. Good, solid world building though.

I really enjoyed this series. I was hooked from the first one, which reminded me a lot of an old Twilight Zone episode. Howey skillfully reveals just the right details at just the right time to keep it interesting all the way through. At times my mouth actually dropped open when something new was revealed. This was well worth reading and I look forward to more from this promising author.

Wow, not sure what to say that wouldnt spoil things... needless to say this book was really good. i kept getting goose bumps and just when you thought you knew what was going on Howey would drop another bomb in your lap with a writer's smirk as if to say "whaddya gonna do about it?" well mr. howey i will continue reading you jerk...
really good, great writing, well paced, excellent reveals. i look forward to more from this man

Future dystopia (is there any other kind) where humans have taken shelter in a silo due to the pollution of earth's environment. The "Pact" holds it all together until someone discovers the truth. Slow start, but the last 200 pages flew by.
