Fun to read, but the "surprise" reveal was pretty easy to predict and I found the character development to be a bit lacking. Combine that with some straight up annoying prose (how many times do you have to tell us the knife is a replacement for the watch? Why do people dip their chins so often?) and the most stars I can give it is 3.

Through no fault of its own, this book took FOREVER to read. I would probably have a glowing review of it if I'd had more time to read and had read it more quickly. It surprised me several times - there were at least three times I thought I knew where it was going..."oh, this is going to be one of those books,"...and I was entirely wrong. After thinking I wasn't going to be into it at all for a while, I ended it wanting to know what happens in the next book.

I think the first section of this book was my favorite. I pretty much lost interest after that. Some of it felt repetitive although I don't think that could have been avoided without changing the plot.
