Still. So. Good. I might actually buy a Fiona Staples print for my office because I love her so much.

There really is nothing I don't love about this series. While I'd read Y: The Last Man and Ex Machina and admired the story-telling, I had critiques. With Saga, all I want is more!
Volume three is the first time I read the monthlies before the trade which gives it a different rhythm. I love to pause at the end and check out all the letters, but then you are left waiting to see what happens. I don't do waiting well. Sitting down with the whole chunky trade felt like an indulgent feast.

I definitely agree with reviews that this feels like a "middle volume" that doesn't necessarily stand up on its own, but I'm invested enough in the story that I still loved it.
Also I think that Fiona Staples' work on Lying Cat's facial expressions deserves at least 1 star alone.

This series is staying good. The artwork is gorgeous, the characters are brilliant, the storytelling is superb, and it's just filled with awesome themes and awesomeness. A must read and not just for fantasy/sci-fi nerds!

THIS IS SO GOOD. And weird, and profound, and what-the-hell, and awesome. Okay, listen. There are flying sharks, walrus oxen, psycho ex-girlfriend Gwendolyn suddenly gets almost likable, the opposite of war, a parasite that alters its victim's brain chemistry to trick them into joining the local ecosystem, seahorse businessmen... Not to mention continuing metaphors about what it takes to make a family, raise a child.
