Sadness because the book is finished.
Joy because... Cletus. (le sigh)

I keep trying to review this book, only to come up with- astounding speachlessness.
Mind you this is not because I don't have anything to say. NOT at all. I don't know where to start, nor do I know how to write this review without it become a rampling fangirling mess...

5+ Cletus hangover stars

I'm going to preface this review by saying I have so many feelings about this book. I may have just ended up gushing while writing this so this just maybe a bit much. To sum it up I absolutely adored it. ❤

Sausage meets banana cake in Beard Science. This may yet be my favorite brother. Oh how I waited for Cletus and so excited to get him earlier than expected. I have wanted to get in his mind since he was introduced. This guy is so amusing in his ways, odd, clever, methodical, intelligent, maniacally diabolical all rolled into one Winston brother. What a character. I was curious when I found out who he would be paired up with and they are both such interesting characters. Cletus Winston a man of many faces knowing when to use to them precisely. Jennifer maybe known as banana cake queen and somewhat coerced into her image. Unassuming, observer, you can call her push over but actually she's kind. She plays her role well much like our hero. Aside from the sneaky and devious mind they have are quite similar in their strange and astute ways.

One thing about Cletus he fixates, therefore a problem solver in his family and soon to be his new endeavor. As painfully awkward as Jenn can be I feel for her. Her upbringing is what she knows and it'll take a lot of coaxing to help. I like how unusual it all began and how it progressed. Watching Jenn break out of the shell and find herself was great to witness. My heart broke for her when she was belittled by her parents. Her mother oh I don't know where to start. I can relate with her on the difficult parents (I'm sure everyone has at some point) but not the same degree. Cletus has a way with her gentler less scary more hilarious ridiculous version of himself around our baker. Gosh darn it, they made me mush. They may not seem suited but they work.

I simply adore the Winston boys all unique personalities and the sibling dynamic and love makes you feel fuzzy with some mischief of course. They have grown in each book and that's great, character growth learning more about them. All genuinely kind in their own way. I have a new appreciation for Billy after this book. They all added something to the story. Ashley too.

Penny effortlessly makes me fall in love with her characters, they aren't fancy just everyday people but with their own quirks and oddities somewhat relatable. Quite fascinating in their own right. The interactions flow together and make the story more lively. She makes me learn new words all the time. I love her genius and fascinating plots, such smart and brilliantly written romance. To think she only wrote it in 6 weeks!

Sigh, I didn't want it to end. I seriously can't get enough of the Cletus-isms. This one for certain one of my top faves of the year. It was just perfectly done. Didn't want this to end and so-so excited for the next. Cletus hangover.

I'm running on very little sleep today (unfortunately not due to me staying up reading), so excuse the lack of cohesion in this review.

I came into this novel with really high expectations - mainly because of some high praised reviews from trusted author and blogger --friends, my own love and admiration for Penny's works, and her incredibly awesome and quirky characters. I thought I was not going to like this series at all which is surprising since I positively adore Penny Reid’s books.
