I am certain this must have been a cliff hanger in the 1800s...when the social conventions were much more staid and proper, but it was a slow read in 2017. I am so glad that finding a mate in my time was less horrendous, less cutthroat, less competitive...or was it?

I read this for the 2015 Popsugar Reading Challenge.
