I am certain this must have been a cliff hanger in the 1800s...when the social conventions were much more staid and proper, but it was a slow read in 2017. I have read Jane Austin before and found things humorous and fun. I did run into that in this book, but those passages were few and far apart. I am so glad that finding a mate in my time was less horrendous, less cutthroat, less competitive...or was it?

One tends to become fonder of Austen's work on every new reading. As much is true of Sense and Sensibility as well. Out of all her novels, this one is perhaps third from the top if there must be some sort of ranking.

Finally, I'm done. It was just OK for me. I found it boring. I felt like they all just sat around and talked about other people's love lives and how much money they had. I don't even understand how this could be considered a love story.
