I was not sure what to expect with this one. I had heard it was good when I bought it and it, but forgot about it until it fit a couple of reading challenges this season.
Blaram Halwai was born in the Darkness of India, but was not satisfied to become like the other males in his family. Both Balram and Ashok are trapped, both are very flawed characters, and both are forced to do to things they don't want to do. The fact that Adiga was able to make both Balram and Ashok sympathetic characters brings a lot of depth to this book.
