He keeps the plot moving in such a fascinating way, makes music come alive on the page, and tends to the characters so that you can empathize with each one, even if they're doing something despicable. I'm looking forward to reading his other works.

This book is a roller coaster. I had no idea where it was going for at least the first 400 pages and even then, Part 3 took many turns that I didn't anticipate. I still have so many unanswered questions but that is part of what makes it such a powerful and interesting read. I enjoyed reading all 1200 pages but the ending is perfect; this is a book that definitely deserves 5 stars.
