Super interesting and honestly pretty heart-wrenching story about what it might be like if we discovered a way to surgically "correct" a low IQ or mental handicaps. Part cautionary tale, part Benjamin-Button-esque story, Flowers for Algernon has deservedly been assigned reading for many years now. It definitely makes you think about the way you treat others. ...more

I read this in school and absolutely loved it; cried my eyes out. But revisiting it as an adult was such a good idea. Yes, it's still a very sad book, but it is brilliantly written, and so layered. Understanding it from the perspective of an adult is even richer. ...more

Week 35 of the 2015 Reading Challenge - A Book from your Childhood. It could be a book you loved that inspired you to read or one you never read.

I chose this one as I had never read it, although I was familiar with the plot. Reading through other reviews, I am apparently the only person ever to not absolutely love this book.
