My favorite kind of Historical Fiction is one where I not only learn something (in this case lots of somethings!) but also makes me feel all the feels. This book is excellent character development as we follow the live of Rachel, from 7 years old to old age. It’s beautiful, tragic, and heartbreaking, even more so knowing it was all true for so many during this time. Looking forward to reading the sequel.

Shelves: general-fiction

As I was reading this book I realized that what little I knew about leprosy was completely untrue. This book focuses on 1 young girl and her life on Molokai after being diagnosed with leprosy. Very interesting read. I would recommended it to anyone.
