This Martian surprised me. I'm not into math or science and have had little interest in science fiction in the past.

I'll admit the science-y detail went over my head for the most part and there were parts that felt flat, but a few things made this a book I enjoyed and won't soon forget:

Okay, okay, okay...it was god-awful tedious through much of the beginning. It is a good thing that Mark Watney had an irreverent, in your face, ballsy attitude to propel me forward toward the end of the book because I would have missed that heart-stuck-in-my-throat-and-lungs-paralyzed ending if not. Wow, what an ending! What a contrast! Ready to attend the ticker tape parade now.

Shelves: fantasy-sci-fi

This book was AWESOME. It is a very quick read. Andy Weir just sucks you into the whole story, hook, line and sinker. You just keep reading until it is done. I was working a lot of overtime when I was reading this book and could not dig my teeth into it.

I would recommend everyone read this book and then see the movie.
