This book was phenomenal. I picked it up because of the movie hype, so I wasn't suspecting much, but once I started it, there was no putting it down. It is probably book of 2013 for me. The movie, seriously, does it no justice at all. They changed so much to make it a happy ending, when one of the genius about this story was how realistic it was from start to finish. I'll recommend it to anyone who loves amazing literature. Trust me... A MUST READ! ...more

I actually liked this book! I haven't seen the movie, but I liked the relationship of Pat and Tiffany in the book. I enjoyed the trying to figure out the story behind Pat's mental illness and his "apart time" with his ex wife. ...more

This book wasn't what I expected it to be...and I did NOT see the movie yet. But I liked it a lot. I very much enjoyed Pat's constant calculations of what people said and did, their emotions and what they didn't say. It was incredibly sad as well, that his life completely shattered and he had to put himself back together. I envy his drive in exercise (don't we all?) and when I finally found out what was up with Tiffany, my heart broke again for her.

I listened to this on audio and really enjoyed it. This is not a "light" read as it deals with mental illness. It can be a bit sad and depressing. Very interesting as it was told from Pat People's as he would write in his diary. You definitely get the feel of being mentally ill as relating to it from a "normal" person's perspective. I loved his optimism and always looking for that silver lining. Characters were well developed although most quirky. But, then again, aren't we all quirky in some wa ...more
