What Members Thought

This book reminded me a great deal of Ocean's Eleven taking place in a fantasy setting (which is a good thing). I liked the way it played out and will be definitely going on to the next book in the series. While I've gone on record as not liking gritty and dark fantasy, the infusions of humor in this book conveyed by the witty on-liner helped to lighten the mood. A group of misfits, an elderly mentor and only the grandest of schemes -- in a book populated with truly relatable, flawed, intelligent characters. Did I say schemes? Counter-schemes! Counter-counter-schemes!
Despite its length, this book is paced extremely well, most often moving quickly and drawing me along. I didn't want to put it down and I was almost afraid to pick it back up because I knew I wouldn't want to put it back down again.

While a rather entertaining read, I kept getting frustrated with these random chapters and sections that were interjected regarding history of the area. They did nothing to add to the story for me and in some instances, simply frustrated me when they came at in opportune moments. However, i do look forward to reading the sequel.
