Hogfather draws up a character sketch of Death more beautifully than any other book, except perhaps Reaper Man. Near the end of the book, I kept losing myself in a dream of sitting by the fireside in plush comfortable chair, with him seated in the self-same way on the opposite side talking to me about humanity and baffling me with his probing questions and insights.
