What Members Thought

I will not write a huge review, but I want to mention one thing. This book is not what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a funny book about a weird girl that finds unexpected love. Having dealt with very abusive, alcoholic parents and having lost a brother to suicide this book punched me in the gut. I still give it 5 stars, but I truly believe it is being misinterpreted and people like me need a warning label.

Ironically, I found this book to be both an un-put-downable book and a put-downable book. I don't find that often.
It is un-put-downable in that I didn't want to leave the story, as quiet and seemingly unassuming book that it is. It is put-down-able ONLY because I didn't want the story to end. Only by pausing and putting it down was I able to make the story last a bit longer.
This book has dry humor similar to A Man Called Ove and The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappea ...more

Eleanor Oliphant is a social misfit. She lives a life of isolation but decides to step out of her comfort zone and makes friends with Raymond. I found this book charming but humorous. There are lots of laugh-out-loud moments. Narrated by Eleanor and author’s debut but very well-written. The ending is heartwarming with lots of hope for Eleanor’s future. Recommended for those who love feel-good books.

I've never had to take a few days and re-listen to parts to decide what I think about a book before and to be honest I still don't quite know how to put my thoughts about this book into words. I will write a proper review when I have considered it further.
