What Members Thought

I love hiking, camping and backpacking and have been to many of the places on the PCT that Cheryl hikes through so I thought I would be totally engaged in her story. Instead I was bored and disinterested. Part of the problem is that although I could sympathize with her, I didn't really like her. She was so self-absorbed and made terrible decisions. Must have read shortly before I started keeping track on GoodReads, several years ago. Recollection is that my appreciation for the book warranted a 4. Having a movie that I enjoyed might get tangled in recollection. I remember thinking how honest she was and that I couldn't be.

I know I'm in the minority here, but this book really disappointed me. I love reading about badass women doing amazing things, but the tone of this memoir just didn't sit right with me. There were several times when I considered DNFing it. That being said, I did bump my rating up a little because I admire what the author accomplished.
