Although the last 100 or so pages were really good, I didn't like the rest. It wasn't awful or anything but just slow. Vera was a little annoying sometimes but overall she was a good main character. I don't know... I think I wanted more after I read Ask the Passengers (which had been brilliant) and I'm a little disappointed. I know it is a good book and has a lot of meaning etc etc but I think it's just not for me. ...more

This was a good first read from A.S. King for me. I really liked the writing style, but the story was a little lacking for me. I loved the multiple perspectives, and the change in time period, but I found the plot to be very predictable. It did keep me interested the whole way, though, and I'll definitely read more from this author! The writing style was great, and right up my alley, this just wasn't my favourite book in terms of the storyline!
