The entire Kincaid family is heading to San Diego for a Christmas reunion where all of the siblings will be together for the first time as adults. At his mother’s request, Patrick takes a detour through San Francisco to check on Gabrielle (Elle) Santana, a close family friend whose mother has been desperately trying to reach her for days. He unwittingly finds himself in the middle of a very dangerous situation. Unfortunately, they get called into action as a dead body is found and the death isn’t due to natural causes.

Not enough drama? Back in San Diego, Pat Kincaid, the family patriarch, has a health emergency that lands him in the ER. While visiting him, Carina gets involved in the middle of a hostage situation that quickly spirals out of control.

These are three separate stories that dovetail nicely once everyone reaches San Diego. Patrick’s dilemma poses the most threats and danger because Elle makes rash decisions that exacerbate the issues. Their developing relationship seems illogical on the surface but it actually works well for both of them. I enjoyed seeing Lucy & Sean team up with Dillon & Kate to apply the best of their skills in the hotel investigation. They were like a well oiled machine working in tandem. When they arrived in San Diego, Lucy is drawn into Carina’s situation, giving us a view of the new FBI agent who’s finally managed her panic attacks.

The structure of the book is a clever concept executed flawlessly. The transitions were seamless and the convergence in San Diego built to an exciting climax. There was also drama from within the family as Lucy’s oldest sister hasn’t spoken to her since her son Justin’s kidnapping and death when Lucy was seven years old. I liked all of the stories equally with some elements from each being favorites. It wasn’t confusing in the least and it was a treat to see so many Kincaids in action in one story.

I love the Kincaid family and this book is three stories related to the Kincaid's gathering for Christmas and is a chance to catch up with them. I happen to really like well written short stories and these are definitely well written. Short and fast paced with the action non-stop. While on the way to San Diego for Christmas the Kincaid kids just can't stop finding dead bodies.

This book contains three novellas which tie together nicely in the end. The whole Kincaid clan is making their way home to San Diego for the Christmas holiday. Patrick Kincaid's mother asks him to stop in San Francisco on his way home and check on their neighbor's daughter, Gabrielle (Elle) Santana. It doesn't take long for Patrick to find Elle and get embroiled in a mess that includes human trafficking and people shooting at them.

Three stories in one. Patrick is in San Francisco trying to help the daughter of a family friend while Lucy and Sean are snowbound at a hotel in Denver surrounded by dead bodies. All the stories are intriguing and fast paced.
Patrick’s story was a hard one for me because it had to do with missing teens and human trafficking. Some of the scene are brutal and heart wrenching. Ella Santana is a strong female character who gives Patrick a run for his money and possibly wins his heart. I liked Ella an ...more

Cold Snap is the seventh book in the Lucy Kincaid series. Lucy is a new FBI agent on her way to her new location by way of a family Christmas celebration. What a great addition to the series, this book is a trilogy of three novellas that gives an update on the Kincaid family as they solve three different mysteries.
