Claire Ward, Will Yablonski and Teddy Clock all have something in common. The three teens share a traumatic past where they not only survived attacks on their families but on the families who subsequently took them in after the deaths of their parents. Now, they’re all at Evensong, the school located in a remote area in Maine that is associated with Anthony Sansone. Jane Rizzoli is investigating the most recent attack perpetrated against Teddy’s foster family and she’s responsible for placing hi

Perhaps 4.5 stars.
I had no idea about the culprit(s) and the last few chapters flew past me. I have some unanswered questions and I hope there's a discussion of this book somewhere on goodreads.
If you have liked the previous Rizzoli & Isles books, I think you will really like this one, as I did. I'm sad to see there's only one more book in this series. I'll have to look for Tess Gerritsen's other books and hope for more of Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles.

What are the chances of 3 kids having faced the same tragedy in the same week and then another tragedy years later? Not very likely, but that is the case of 3 kids at Evensong, a boarding school for kids who have been victims of violent crimes. Maura is at the school visiting Rat and her and Rizzoli work together to figure out what connects the 3 kids. Someone is still after the kids and Rizzoli believes that Evensong, tucked deep in the Maine woods, is the place to keep them safe. Not so...

Review: An improvement on the last two books in the series. The mystery is fast-paced and thrilling with some clever twists and turns that keep you turning the pages.
The secondary characters are well-developed, particularly th ...more

"Three children, strangers to each other, are brought together by seemingly motiveless and extreme acts of violence. Orphaned and alone, they are taken in as students at Evensong, a boarding school for emotionally traumatized children in the remote Maine wilderness.
A PLACE OF SAFETY?
Forensic pathologist Maura Isles already has a connection with the school - Julian 'Rat' Perkins, the 16-year-old boy she met during a previous case, is now living there. But she suspects that the Evensong fou ...more

I think this one was the best I have read so far in the series. I liked having Maura and Jane being best friends again. I didn't like it when they were not on the same page. Sometimes the family squabbles that Jane's family has are laugh out loud funny. This did not disappoint me this time either.
I didn't figure out who was the bad guys in this until the very end. I also liked the somewhat unconventional ending.
I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars and have the next one to read for next month. ...more
