The story begins with Rachel in the middle of a Were challenge. They don't like her being David's alpha, which she and David orchestrated so she could be insured and allow him to essentially remain as a lone wolf. Things happen during that challenge that are harbingers of what's to come. If that wasn't enough action, Rachel gets drawn into some Nick drama that includes Jenks' son, Jax. My favorite book so far. I loved having Jenks back. He had me laughing out loud again. I liked the wolf pack involvement. I was also happy to finally see something happen between Rachel and Ivy. It hasn't solved their issues, but I think they are on their way to getting over the weirdness and tension in their friendship. I was really irritated with Nick in this, but loved how Rachel ended the book with him. I was glad for a break with the demons in this one, but did miss Trent. ...more

So I finally finished this! It took me roughly over a week. I don't know why I struggled with it as after all it was a really good read.

In this book we see Rachel's relationship to her friends change, as we go on a suicidal mission to save Nick & Jax

Shelves: five-star-reads, urban-fantasy

This was my favourite book of the series to date. Rachel Morgan continues to grow as one of my favourite book heroines. Ivy makes me want to bawl my eyes out and Jenks I'm completely in love with him. Nick "crap for brains" made me wish him dead from the first mention of his name on the page.

I can't wait to move on to the next book. ...more
