What Members Thought
This is the type of book that usually captures my imagination, a story in which memory and present experience weave together in a fragmented way, where seemingly ordinary events reveal deeper insights. But this one did not work for me. I could not get past the writing with its constant repetition of “I think”, often twice in the same sentence. I never connected with the narrator or his story.
Started with the ebook, decided that the audiobook might work better, but it didn't. The constant repetition of words and thoughts, over and over and over again, was tedious. I just wanted the story to do something other than be stuck in the head of a neurotic painter who barely seems to be surviving their own life, never mind trying to help the couple other people they know.
