My least favourite of the novels in this series - the narrator and Albertine are living together in his mother's apartment, but he is tormented by jealousy and determined to keep her away from the other women whom he suspects she desires. His musings on the theme of jealousy and love are more monotonous and repetitive than in earlier volumes, especially in the first part 'The Captive'.

The second part 'The Fugitive' is more eventful and does contain some perceptive and sensitive descriptions of

Volumes V and VI of In Search of Lost Time really do go hand and hand. These 2 books have been my favorites thus far in the series. The narrator's focus is on his relationship with Albertine. By the end of Book VI, we learn her fate, together with some of the other main characters. Interestingly, the series could have ended at this point, but for the narrator himself. I'm looking forward to hear how his story ends in Volume 7.
