Shelves: audiobooks

It was really hard for me to get into the writing style. I tried before to read the print format of the book but I couldn't get pass the part where she share the experience at Oxford. Audiobook really helped me to go through it and later found myself enjoying both the story and the naration. Would recommend anyone stuck with the writing to try audiobook instead! ...more

Sobre esta premisa, Woolf desarrolló dos conferencias que han trascendido en el tiempo publicadas como 'Una habitación propia'. Woolf analiza el papel de la mujer en la literatura a lo largo de la historia y lo hace dejándonos grandes reflexiones que trascienden la esfera de la creación literaria y reflexionan sobre la situación de la mujer y sobre como se la ha invisibilizado de f ¿Qué necesita una mujer para poder dedicarse a la literatura? Porque aún seguimos necesitando una habitación propia que nos permita estar con nosotras mismas, alejadas de todos los ruídos que distorcionan nuestra voz.

Este ha sido mi segundo contacto con Virginia Woolf. Me ha gustado su forma de ir tejiendo sus reflexiones y pensamientos. Aun así, debo decir que es una lectura que también me ha exigido mucho a la hora de absorber todas esas reflexiones. ...more

Woolf's thesis: A woman must earn money and a room of one's own to write. Woolf identifies the fact that the women are denied access to education, entrance to buildings, walkways and ideas. This might be my new favorite book!

I just finished A Room of One's Own and I absolutely loved it! I was a bit hesitant to pick it up, as I have found Woolf's writing style a bit hard to follow in the past (due to all the stream-of-consciousness), but I'm so so glad I did! (This book is way easier to read than e.g. To the Lighthouse or Mrs. Dalloway)
