What Members Thought

I first read this book to help my son with a summer reading project. I ended up liking it a lot. The story takes place in the 1930s in Alabama. However, to me, it seemed a lot like the Alabama town I always visited as a child (not the overt racism....well...maybe a lot of that, too). The characters are so unique and stay with you even after the book is over. I think the message of the book stills rings true today. Although I wouldn't call it one of my favorites, I will definitely read it again.
