message 17: by Desirae (new)

Desirae Daniele and Marion: Perks of Being a Wallflower is one year from a teen's perspective, so it starts in fall, and has a heavy bit during winter. So I think it works

message 18: by Marion (new)

Marion I'm a classics novels failure. I couldn't finish Pride and Prejudice even though I love other Austen inspired books and movies. So I'm going to read Perks of a Wallflower as my book that became a movie.

Marion Desirae, Perks was a quick, engaging read but heavy on more drama than I expected. I anticipated teen angst but much deeper issues were experienced by some of the characters. I'm really glad I read it though so I can talk about it with my nieces who are high school freshmen this year :)

That's what I thought too. Very deep but really engaging and a quick read. It took me one day and I was surprised by the turn towards the end.

message 37: by Marion (new)

Marion 4 of 5 completed.
Task #1: Read a book from a favorite episode. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire from The Lorelais' First Day at Chilton.

(Reading in an author's blog back in 2008 or 2009 about her similar situation of Lorelai's first day at school clothes mishap is what peaked my curiosity to finally watch the series!)

message 38: by Marion (new)

Marion Has anyone read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon? Think it would count as a fall/autumn book? I started reading reviews, and time frame hasn't been mentioned by any reviewers. I was going to read the Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe, but I'm still on my library's waitlist for it.

message 39: by Marion (new)

Marion 5/5 completed!
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon as the fall/autumn book. From my understanding, it definitely is not set in summer but during the school year. Fall may be a stretch, but I'm going with it LOL.

2. Read one book from the list that is also a movie: The Time Traveler's Wife read I will watch the movie later, but the book is great!

3.Choose a book from the list that would be considered a “fall/autumn” book: The Master and Margarita read I don't know if it's considered by fall/autumn but I have read it at the beginning of October and it definitely reminds me of fall.

4.Choose the book from the list that has been on your "to read" list the longest: The Trial read

5.Read one book from the list that wasn’t mentioned/read by Rory: A Confederacy of Dunces

So 3 out of 5. Next two books I will have today from library and I can't wait! I'll get involved in the winter challenge sooner that in this one!

message 42: by Linda (new)

Linda I'm reading Cujo by Stephen King, which fits greats for challenge 5. Its from S4E5 where Lorelai calls Luke Cujo.
