I generally enjoy classics and I almost always enjoy horror/suspense, this was a bit of a slog. I love the underlying story (creation gone terribly wrong) but seeing that for all the excess was difficult. A nice read for Halloween month but I don't think I'd read it again.

Victor Frankenstein is an aspiring scientist who discovers the secret of creating new life. We know at the beginning from a framing story that this will not go well. We first meet poor Victor cold and hungry on a dog sled (excuse me, "sledge") with most of the dogs dead as he pursues a monster on an ice floe around the North Pole.
