I have read and reviewed Louise’s first book Only Ever Yours. After having done so I immediately went to Waterstones and bought her newest release and I have no regrets.
Asking For It left me, much like O’Neill’s first novel, with an overwhelming sadness for the protagonist, Emma. Definitely not an easy read but also definitely a book that as many people as possible should read. I wasn't the biggest fan of the way it was written sometimes but the topic is far more important than that and I think Louise O'Neill does a good job at showing the effects a rape can have on everyone involved. In my opinion, the fact that the second half of the book sometimes gets a bit repetitive only helps to accomplish that.
