Holy smokes friends, this book blew the socks of me. I adored this book, I am in love with the world, characters and the writing. I’m hooked. The suspense and mystery of it all was amazing, kept me guessing all the time. The romance was perfectly done. Again I am hooked and can not wait to jump into the next one. I know, I know, I’m late to the game but I am here now.

4.5 Stars! Naked in Death is written by Nora Roberts under the pen name, J.D. Robb. While it’s my first book by her under this name, I’m well acquainted with Nora Roberts’ other works. I loved this futuristic mystery/thriller read with a hint of romance.

While it’s my first book by her under this name, I’m well acquainted with Nora Roberts’ other works. I loved this futuristic mystery/thriller read with a hint of romance.

Summary:
Eve Dallas lives in a world where technology rules. Despite the advances in everyday life, passion, impulse, and plain old evil still play a role. When the granddaughter of a Senator is viciously murdered, shedding light on her scandalous life as a prostitute, Eve is pulled into the deceitful world of politics to find a killer. As the case unfolds and more and more suspects are added, Eve finds herself straddling a very delicate line. Hunting for a cold, calculating, and organized killer, the last thing Eve needs is to have an instant and undeniable attraction to her prime suspect. Roarke is an Irish billionaire with a shady history, but he’s also straightforward and charming. And possibly a killer. With a cold-blooded killer targeting paid companions, Eve has her work cut out for her. In more ways than one. Can she find the one clue that will point to a man intent on his mission of death, and can she trust in the passion and seduction of a man she does not know, but craves like a drug?

Reading the blurb, I was hesitant to start this book. I love mystery/thrillers, but the futuristic aspect didn’t really appeal to me. I’m so glad I proceeded, though, because it was fantastic. Our leading lady, Eve was fascinating. Smart, independent, haunted, dedicated, and fierce. I loved the passion for her profession, and her determination to to find justice for the people she swore to protect. She was unconcerned about appearances and didn’t revere those with money. She had a heartbreaking past, and we got to be with her as her demons began to overcome her, but also see her start to work through them. The plotline was superb. It was intensely violent, and sometimes hard to read (beware the possible triggers for some readers), but it kept my mind engaged the entire time. While I had my ideas about who the killer was, I wasn’t fully committed until closer to the end. There really were quite a few choices. I even loved the futuristic setting, too. It wasn’t so much as to be completely impossible or put off those like me, who aren’t big on the whole sci-fi genre. I think this actually fascinated me more. The changes in everyday life. The possibility that people could live several years longer, exploration of outer space, and the advances in technology, healthcare, and law. It was intriguing and opened the door for so many more possibilities. I especially loved the romance. Eve needed someone to trust and to support her. Roarke was perfect for her. He was smart, successful, dangerous, and charming. I liked that he didn't hide any of his shady past, yet still only hinted at them. Overall, I really adored getting to know Eve, and I can’t wait to help her solve the next case. <3 ...more
